Most of downtown Roseville's 2026 holiday events happen between Wednesday, December 2, and Saturday, December 5. The City of Roseville holds its three Downtown Holiday Celebration nights back to back at Vernon Street Town Square. The 65th Annual Sylvia Besana Holiday Parade follows on Saturday morning, along with a new family area the Downtown Roseville Partnership approved this summer. Last year's attraction, the month-long ice rink on the Square, has no confirmed 2026 dates.
The week at a glance
The City's fall and winter events flyer, last updated August 19, 2026, lists the three downtown nights in a row. The details below come from the City's Downtown Holiday Celebration page, the parade's 2026 applicant package, and the Fountains at Roseville event pages.

Each night on the Square is a different kind of event. At Tree Grove, local businesses, organizations, and schools decorate trees around the Square, and the grove is lit that evening with crafts, music, Santa, and local vendors. The Thursday tree lighting is the free, all-ages night, with cookie decorating, a kids' activity zone, and food trucks from Sacto MoFo. Friday's North Pole Tavern is the adults' night, with wine and beer tastings.
Downtown has its own programming that week too. The Downtown Roseville Partnership calendar lists Emo Night Karaoke at Goldfield Trading Post on December 4, the same night as North Pole Tavern.
Why Saturday carries more weight this year
The reason parade Saturday got bigger traces back to last winter. In 2025, the Downtown Roseville Partnership ran the first Downtown Roseville Ice Rink, a synthetic rink at Vernon Street Town Square, from December 7, 2025, to January 4, 2026. ABC10 reported that it was open daily except Christmas Day, with sessions at $18 for ages 14 and up, $10 for ages 6 to 13, plus a processing fee on paid tickets, and free for kids 5 and under. The Partnership then closed the rink on January 4, its scheduled final day, because of a bad-weather forecast, so the season ended a day early.
The Partnership reviewed the rink at its January 28, 2026, board meeting. Its meeting minutes record $64,064 in expenses and an estimated net profit of about $19,000 to $20,000. The rink also brought 5,000-plus additional visitors to Town Square, who stayed more than an hour on average, and added evening activity downtown. The same minutes list things to fix: delays with the ticketing system, cleaning and maintenance, what people expected from skate sharpening on a synthetic surface, and theming to make the rink feel less "plastic." Board members also discussed shortening the run to about two weeks, revisiting ticket prices, and changing the format.
None of the Partnership records reviewed for this post approve a second season. The July and August board minutes cover holiday planning, but neither includes a 2026 rink booking. As of mid-October, a 2026 rink has not been announced, and it has not been ruled out either.
What the board did approve in July was a plan that puts more into parade day. According to the July 2026 minutes, the Partnership hired Upstream Administration, led by parade director Stephanie Hill, to run the parade, the Holiday Vendor Square, and a new Winter Funderland, at a cost not to exceed $3,500. The minutes say this builds on the board's earlier direction to "extend post-parade activation and keep families downtown longer." They also note that the City confirmed it will not charge for parade road closures this year, which saves about $9,000.
Last year, the effort to keep people downtown went into four weeks on the rink. This year, it goes into one Saturday morning, built around a parade the organizer calls Roseville's longest-running tradition.
Saturday, December 5, from start to finish
- 8:00 a.m., Mahany Fitness Center. Breakfast With Santa starts with a sensory-friendly seating. Later seatings follow at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30.
- About 9:30 a.m., Vernon Street Town Square. Winter Funderland, a new family activity area, is proposed to open before the parade and run until about 1:30 p.m. The expanded Holiday Vendor Square will include a section for children's vendors.
- 9:30 a.m., parade check-in. Bands line up on Bulen Street alongside The Rock, horse entries also line up alongside The Rock, and all other entries line up at 6th and Vernon.
- 10:30 a.m., the 65th Annual Sylvia Besana Holiday Parade. The parade ends at Roseville Square's north lot, behind Roseville Commons. Every entry is judged. This year adds an expanded battle of the bands, with local high school bands and the Citrus Heights community band judged along the route.
- 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Fountains. Pet Pictures with Santa runs at Pet Food Express both weekend days. The $25 donation supports local Guide Dogs for the Blind puppy raisers.
- 4:30 p.m. onward, Mahany Fitness Center. Milk & Cookies With Santa has seatings at 4:30, 5:15, and 6:00.
Groups that want to march still have time. The parade application deadline is Friday, November 27. Entry fees are $15 for equestrian and general entries and $50 for commercial businesses. Winners will be posted on the parade website after December 10.
The rest of the season fits around that week
The busy week has a few events leading up to it and a quieter run of events afterward.
Before December 2
- Sat., Nov. 7: The City's free Holiday Craft Fair runs 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Maidu Community Center. After December 5
- Dec. 1–12: Fountains Elf Quest overlaps with the main week. Kids find hidden elves and collect stickers to enter a drawing for a Fountains gift card.
- Tue.–Thu. evenings, Dec. 8–17: Neighborhood Santa goes out on routes through local neighborhoods. The City says it will post routes by November 1.
- Thu., Dec. 10: The Grouch & Eligh play Goldfield Trading Post.

On the stage, Roseville Theatre Arts Academy at 241 Vernon St. lists Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical for December 5–12. Its events page does not yet show showtimes or prices.
Details still open as of October 12
A few of these plans could still change before December.
- The ice rink. No 2026 dates, prices, or sponsors have been published. Kaiser Permanente sponsored the 2025 rink, and so did downtown businesses including The Monk's Cellar and The TRAX/Le Tesh Wine Lounge.
- Whether Winter Funderland will be free. The plan was to ask Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health to co-sponsor Winter Funderland so children could attend at no charge. The July minutes record that approach as a plan, not a commitment.
- Santa's Workshop hours. The City flyer lists 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. The event page lists slots from 3:30 to 5:45 p.m. The event page is the one where tickets are sold.
- Sensory Santa's date. A standalone City page still shows the 2025 schedule. The City's adaptive and inclusive programs page lists the 2026 session on December 2.
- Parking for the tree lighting. The parking map linked from the City's current event page is labeled 2024.
